“I deserve this treat!” ??
I used to make a commitment in the morning to eat healthy and say no to the self-indulgent “treats” I knew were ruining my health and causing excess weight gain and fat storage.

But, by the evening, I had changed my mind!

“I deserve this!” I would tell myself as I planned yet another super self-indulgent meal with wine, chocolate, etc.

So, at some point, I had to have a little heart-to-heart talk with myself.  What do I mean “I deserve this?”

I forced myself to journal about it.  (Do you have to force yourself to journal?  Ha ha!)

I journaled about what I truly desire and feel I deserve in life.

It’s funny that decadent food and drink really didn’t come up!

I invite you to do this exercise.  (And I’m attaching a worksheet to help.)

Write out 10 things you truly desire and deserve in life. Here are some things I heard from clients in my Intensive program recently: health and vitality; feeling healthy, happy, and strong; connection, to love and be loved; respect; time in nature; creative outlets; a pain-free life; to feel free!; to experience joy; to feel proud of myself– boom!

Those sound more important than chocolate cake!

When we elevate our intentions about what we truly desire and deserve in our lives, we can start to make progress getting our more evolved self to win over our “just do it,” less evolved self.

We can “just do it” and eat and drink to excess if we want.  But, when we want to go for a bigger life, we may start to wonder if that eating (and, for some, drinking) to excess is actually holding us back from what we truly deserve in life.

What do you think?   What do YOU truly desire and deserve in life?
